April 13, 2013, 8pm - Ottawa Little Theatre, 400 King Edward Ave., Ottawa
For its seventh annual Show Tune Showdown, Tone Cluster is returning to its downtown home for what it believes will be the best edition ever of the popular event.
Ottawa Little Theatre on King Edward Avenue will be the scene of the Broadway-musical-themed concert and friendly competition April 13.
Since the first Show Tune Showdown in 2005, thousands of people have been entertained by the event’s unique mix of performance, audience participation, and competition.
One 2009 audience member told the Ottawa Citizen: “The choir, their musical director Jane Perry, three ensembles (Zucchini Grotto Theatre Company, Sheridan College Musical Theatre Program and Suzart Productions), the judges, the master of ceremonies, the videos, not to mention the audience (who by correctly guessing show tunes won the prize of performing them), were very entertaining. Their exuberance, vibrancy and wit were infectious. When the Sheridan group performed their last number I jumped out of my seat and clapped wildly.”
This year's edition features three local teams: Suzart Productions, Orpheus Musical Theatre and Zucchini Grotto performing in front of our judging panel - CBC Radio's host of Ontario Today Kathleen Petty, local Ottawa celebrity China Doll, and Ottawa City Councillor Mathieu Fleury. Our MC extraordinaire Bob LeDrew is back again as well to help us round out what will be an entertaining evening.
Show Tune Showdown supports the music and outreach activities of Tone Cluster.
