Tone Cluster is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The board provides strategic oversight and guidance over Tone Cluster, and regularly discuss ways to improve the choir. Get to know a little bit more about some of our board members below!

Board of Directors

M-E Gilbert – Co-Chair

M-E has been singing as a soprano with Tone Cluster since 2019. She became a Board member during the pandemic and uses her skills in writing and policy analysis to support the organization.

Colum Grove-White – Co-Chair

Colum has been singing as a tenor with Tone Cluster since 2019 and loved the choir so much he became a board member in 2020. Colum is a Federal public servant and is currently the Director of Orders in Council at the Privy Council Office. He also volunteers with other organizations, including resettling LGBTQIA+ refugees to Canada. Colum lives in Ottawa with his partner and fellow chorister, Jonathan, as well as Cusco, his goofy golden retriever.

Rowan Elsdon – Treasurer

Rowan joined Tone Cluster in 2024, and has looked forward to every Monday night since! They bring with them a passion for good music, inclusive community, and previous experience supporting student-run EDI and musical groups at Queen’s University.

Léa Desjardins – Secretary

Léa is a recent addition to the choir, joining the alto section in 2024, but has been involved in music for over 20 years. By day, she’s a corporate girlie dedicated to defending Indigenous rights and advocating for human rights. With experience in governance, community building, and event planning, she is committed to helping the choir grow and expand its reach within Ottawa.

Outside of work, Léa can be found perfecting her skills as a wannabe polyglot, planning her next global adventure, or spending time with friends and partners at cultural and social events in her community.

Rob Bowman – Director

Rob has been a member of Tone Cluster for over 27 years and sings in the tenor section. He has been on the Board many times serving in different capacities including as past Chair. He is the concept originator and producer of TC’s fundraiser, Show Tune Showdown, a musical theatre performance competition and song title trivia show.  STS will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary and TC will host its final edition in April 2025.

Amidst an increasingly hostile external environment, Rob looks forward to working with the Board and the Artistic Director to continue to foster a safe, stable, and welcoming space for singers to raise their collective voices in song.

Sam Greve – Director

Sam joined the board of Tone Cluster in 2024-25. They have sung with multiple different choirs across Ottawa and enjoy supporting both the queer and choral communities through volunteering.

During the day, Sam works for the public service and on the weekends enjoys going for long walks to discover new parts of Ottawa.

Charlotte Stewart-Juby – Director

Charlotte moved to Ottawa in 2022 to pursue graduate studies at Carleton University in music and cultural studies. With degrees in voice from McGill University, Charlotte has worked as a freelance musician for the past decade, still singing with the Ottawa Bach Choir and In Harmony. Charlotte has been singing in choirs since she was nine years old, and is very happy to be joining the community at Tone Cluster, incorporating her past experiences as an arts administrator, educator, and musician.
